I want people to be afraid of the women I dress. Nostalgia is a very complicated subject for me. I'm attracted by nostalgia but I refuse it intellectually. A woman has the age she deserves. Design and style should work toward making you look good and feel good without a lot of effort so you can get on with the things that matter. I've treated the waistcoat as if it were a corset, so that it becomes the first layer in the process of putting clothes on the body. There is constant motion between layering and revealing.
Luxury will be always around, no matter what happens in the world. I am like a freight train. Working on the details, twisting them and playing with them over the years, but always staying on the same track. My shows are about the complete woman who swallows it all. It's a question of survival. I love things that age well - things that don't date, that stand the test of time and that become living examples of the absolute best. Age is something only in your head or a stereotype. Age means nothing when you are passionate about something.
Money is the most corrosive aspect of life today because it means that all attention to detail is forgotten. Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening. I adore the challenge of creating truly modern clothes, where a woman's personality and sense of self are revealed. I want people to see the dress, but focus on the woman. Every day I'm thinking about change. Women are women, and hurray for that.
